SEATTLE, Wash. – November 16, 2022 – Today, the Italian Consul General in San Francisco, Sergio Strozzi, will open the first-ever in-person event at the Washington Athletic Club (WAC) Crystal Room in downtown Seattle, highlighting Italian innovation and the Italian startup ecosystems.

Over seventy accredited investors and twenty venture funds, as well as executives from Amazon and Microsoft, as well as other select Washington state companies and trade organizations have registered to attend. An open, metaverse-inspired virtual event experience is now live and updated with all of the event’s content. The event will include a panel focused on ‘Building Bridges and Connecting Innovation Communities’. Sitting on the podium: John Cook, co-founder and editor of Geekwire, Microsoft’s director of startup programs, Tom Davis, former CEO of Solair, an Italian startup acquired by Microsoft Corporation, Marcello Majonchi of Amazon, former chief product officer of Solair and now Amazon’s GM of AWS EBS Edge and Martina Welkhoff, Managing Partner VXR Venture Fund.

The event presents ten of the most innovative Italian startups. Everyone will pitch for five minutes. After the pitch, each startup is paired with a carefully selected wine from Italy and the Pacific Northwest. Attendees will enjoy a curated wine tasting accompanied by delicious appetizers.

As a G7 country, Italy is already a major innovation player in Europe and the increasingly important Mediterranean region. Italy is increasingly attracting private investment from the USA. For the first time, Italy is represented on the West Coast with a physical Innovation and Cultural Center promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through ITA (Italian Trade Agency) and overseen by the Consulate General and Italian Embassy in Washington: INNOVIT is located in downtown San Francisco now opened.
