Jerry Brown subject of new documentary ‘The Disrupter’ | Movies and TV | – San Francisco Examiner | Episode Movies

Climate change, renewable energy, equal gender and racial representation—Jerry Brown’s concerns about such issues in the 1970s struck many as petty and even crazy. “Governor Moonbeam” was the name given to Brown by Chicago columnist Mike Royko at the time.

Five decades later, the four-time California governor, three-time presidential candidate, and 50-year-old public official has proven remarkably focused when few were listening. A new documentary, Jerry Brown: The Disrupter, explores the vision Brown showed as a young politician and celebrates Brown’s longstanding commitment to public service. Directed by Emmy Award-winning actress Marina Zenovich, the film will have its world premiere Thursday in San Francisco at the Doc Stories Festival.
